Quick update from Chiang Mai! Luckily we left Bangkok just in time to escape the major protests - there have been some up here, but not nearly as violent as down in Bangkok. Chiang Mai has just been one big party so far! Its Songkran - Thai new Year, which basically turns into a week long watefight!! Its meant to refresh your blessings for the new year - we have seen all the beautiful temples and went to the hilltop Doi Suthep temple to watch the monks blessing the locals. Today we did a Thai cooking school and learned to cook some amazing food (and ate all 7 dishes each - phew - good feed!) and tomorrow we are going trekking to see elephants in the jungle and white water raft - so all fun and games! The water fight has been manic - goes all day long and you cannot walk 2m without being drenched! They have ice-water filled baths in cars, motorbikes with jet sprays on them! We have buckets and waterguns to join in the fun! Hope everyone had a great Easter and happy Thai New Year! x
