Emilie and Ray's Trip Around Australia
we have now arrived in Denmark in Western Australia. it is very nice here. it reminds me a little about Finnskogen, only much larger. we found a campsite right near the river that we decided to stay on for three nights. We drove in a total of 6.5 hours today, with three stops. our first stop was at The Valley of the Giants, where we ate lunch in the car, before we went for a walk up in the treetops. The trees were between 100 and 130 meters high. It was absolutely fantastic. On the way there, we saw a large forest fire and just afterwards we saw a sign that said there was no danger of forest fire today. where is the truth in that? we thought it came from The Valley of the Giants because of the smoke, but when we got there we could see the fire from the top of trees. after another 15 minutes in the car we stopped at a dinosaur museum. where they had some cool dinosaurs and MANY nasty snakes.
Ray had a great time with two of the snakes, while I stayed far away from them. I still think they are creepy. outside, they had a large collection of different parrots. it was a white parrot named Ed (at the picture) who thought he was a dog. He came up to you and leaned towards you to be petted. We walked around with kangaroos and beautiful birds. After another 15 minutes we found a honey wine brewery where we stopped and tried different honey wines and bought some honey. looking forward to a glass of wine, maybe tomorrow or tonight. From there it took us 30 minutes we came to town. A small place with four different petrolstations! we went up to the center after a while at the camp site to buy some bread, and dinner. we walked along the river, beautiful, but also pretty creepy. we made it to the shop with a few minutes to go. they where closing when we got there, but the doors were open for those who were going out so we sneaked in and got what we needed. we were the last out. back in the car we had dinner and soon we will look at the film 'Natural Born Killers'. nice.
