We got up at 4:30 this morning. It was still dark and the stars where shining. It was magnificent. We ate breakfast and packed up the bus before we pointed our noses towards Uluru to se the sunrise. It was so many people there that it was hard to find a nice place to take a picture. But it was amazing. After the sunrise we drove to a path that leads around Uluru. We had the option walk around the whole stone or climb up it. When we got there the climb was closed so we had to start walking.. We walked and walked and walked.. Our legs was so tired and we were exhausted after the whole trip which was 10km. We started as the last people walking behind everyone, and ended up as the first ones back at the bus. We used 2 and a half hrs on the whole walk. It felt like my feet were going to fall off. When everyone was back at the bus our tour guide surprised us with another walk. It only took us about 15 min, but it felt like ages. He took us to a part of the rock that we still had not seen. He told us the story of the rock and how it appeared. He showed us some cave paintings that has been there for many many years. He said that the newest was over 170 000 years old. He also told us how the aboriginals painted them and how they can still be seen. It was realy cool to listen to him talk about it.
Something else he told us was that it has not been so green around this area in a long time, but because of the record mass of rain this place has had recently, it's hard to imagine that we are in the desert. It was not quite like i expected, but better. Its fo fun to see something not that many pepole has seen before.
When we where back at the campsite, we made lunch and cleaned around to get ready for our next stop. We drove for about 3 hrs from the Uluru campsite to Kings Canyon campsite.
On the way we stoped at a bar and took a beer. Then we went 4 weel driving with a bus. It was kind of fun. It was grasshoppers everywhere, and they made so much sounds. They jumped on top of our heads, on our laps, our back and so on. Something that was not so nice, but what can you expect when you are camping in the Outback. We made a fire and made some dinner before we had to go to bed. Night!
