Spent a wonderful 3 days in Iceland with Laura, Ben & Katherine. I knew my trip was off to a good start when I bumped into Sir Ian McKellen and Richard Wilson at the airport! I didn't get a photo but I did have a little chat with Sir Ian and managed to blurt out "I'm going on an adventure" when he asked me why I was going to New Zealand (stay classy, Emma).
The rest of the trip was brilliant too. We spent a day wandering around Reykjavik, taking in Hallgrimskirkja (the tallest church in Iceland), the Sculpture Garden, and the docks. Laura suggested a place for us to get a cup of lobster soup and I'm glad we did because it was delicious.
On Wednesday we drove around the Golden Circle, stopping every 5 minutes to admire Iceland's beautiful landscapes. The weather was very changeable, which meant that we got soaked a few times but also that we saw around 30 rainbows. We stopped at Faxi Falls (pictured) and grabbed a quick cup of coffee in the little cafe there.
Thursday was our last day in Iceland. I was treated to a relaxing soak in the Blue Lagoon by Laura. If you ever go to Iceland, the Blue Lagoon is well worth a visit. It's a geothermal spa with piercing blue water. Laura and I made the most of the free face masks and in spa bar, spending about an hour and a half soaking before heading out to the airport to say our goodbyes.
I've uploaded some photos to flickr - flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/devilinaccup/sets/72157647516195541/
I'll also add an album on here so watch this space!
