Good evening!
I am FINALLY in Quebec City! It has been a looong day! I left Calgary at 7am this morning and it is now gone 9pm... I forget how big this country is! I was supposed to have a 4 hour wait in Toronto airport which then got extended to 6 hours for whatever reason! But, seen as it is the 1st of December today I figured it was only tradition that I watch Love Actually so I wasn't too bored in the end :-)
So my last day in Calgary was pretty relaxed. I wandered into town and around the shops to buy a little thank you present for Katharina and Graeme but didn't stay too long because it was snowing and the wind really picked up so it was not particularly fun. We ended up spending our evening watching a Christmas film and hanging out in the flat. Very nice and just what I needed to recover from Banff! :-)
Tomorrow I am going to venture out into Quebec City which by night looks very pretty already so I am looking forward to it. They even have a chocolate museum here which I feel may be one of the highlights of my stay!!! Everyone here speaks French. I was under the impression that Quebecois were all bilingual like me but apparently most don't speak English or if they do they choose not to. The accent is very strong though and some of the grammatical structure is different to French so I am having to concentrate when talking to French Canadians so far. I'm sure I'll get used to it. It's like the first time I went to Glasgow all over again: "Sorry? What?..."
Anyway, the Lonely Planet informs me that there is a live Jazz night every Tuesday in this pub down the road so I'm going to head there for a drink and listen to some music :-)
Love,
Elodie

P.S. Only 24 days until Christmas ( my advent calendar is looking well and truly battered though :-S)
