Sydney - Again!
24th May - 29th May 2011
So, we eventually left the Sunny coast! And although our time there was very mixed, it was sad to leave. We had a leaving night out with Jo, Bec and the girls from the swim school. We went to a gorgeous Thai restaurant called Phoms in Cotton Tree then went to the Soul Bar to watch a live indie/dub-step band called Pigeon who were class! We also had a leaving BBQ at Banyandah towers and invited everyone we met. Phil, Eileen, Ben, Eniko, Scarlett, Graham, Yvonne, Greg, Carole, Mitch, Emma and Hudson all came and it was really nice to have our last BBQ by the water! We had our final visits to the Boat Shed in Cotton Tree and Duporth Inn too! Max gave me and Joe a lift the airport on Tuesday morning and we said our final goodbyes to Banyandah Towers and Sam and Hayley! It was sad but we are looking forward to our next adventure!
The flight was only an hour then we got a tube and a taxi to Becky and Jamie's new apartment in Balmain! Very posh! We went o watch the State of Origin game at The Exchange. Its so much colder here than in Queensland! We are wearing Uggs and scarves and gloves! Joe loves his Uggies!
On Thursday 26th May we did a skydive - with many thanks to brother Shanks! I can't believe he paid for us both to do it! Cheers Bro! I was absolutely terrified! So nervous! And it was worse than I thought it was going to be! I was scared all the way down! I opened my mouth the whole way down too so my teeth and tonsils were frozen! And I look like a fish on the video! It was very exciting though and a crazy experience. Joe absolutely loved it and decided he wanted to become an instructor! Cheers Alex! I can't believe people say it doesn't feel like you're falling - I felt like I was dying for over a minute! However, the ride home on the bus was even more scary than the jump! Our driver was mental! Joe even lost his temper with him and shouted at him for nearly killing us! We went for a drink at the Harbour View Hotel which had a cool rooftop terrace where you could watch people doing the bridge climb! We were so lucky with the weather, it was crap in the morning then brightened up just in time for our jump! The sunset on the opera house was also incredible when we were chilling in Sydney afterwards. We went to Gillian and Steve's for dinner on the evening and it was lovely to see everyone.
On Friday we went to Birkenhead shopping centre which had some great outlet shops and an open end where you could see the city skyline. We went to The Three Weeds pub on the evening with Becky, Jamie, Laura and Kenco! It's a cool place and it sells Stowford Press Cider! Jamie got very drunk, it was hilarious! On Saturday we went into Balmain for breakfast then sat in all day and watched Gavin and Stacey! Ha! Then on the evening we went to the Exchange with Gillian, Steve, Katy, Jono, Richard and Dawn for the last supper! We had lovely food and cooked it ourselves on marble hot plates, it was a really different!
On Sunday 29th May we flew to Melbourne. We both had horrendous colds and were not very well but looking forward to seeing a new city!
We had a good time once again in Sydney, its' always fun seeing Becky and Jamie and Joe's family! Going to miss you all lots!
