After a long but good flight, our Thai Airways plane has finally landed in Aukland. This is where the third chapter of our adventure begins. We have both been very curious about what New Zealand would look like and what we would find here. In the next couple of weeks we will explore the South Island, starting and ending in Christchurch. We are also excited about our means of transportation: a caravan!
We have rented a converted Fiat Ducato Maxi, which sports: hot water, shower, toilet, gas kitchen, fridge, microwave, TV, and most importantly a heater!
It is winter here at the moment and even though the next few days are forecasted to be sunny, the temperatures will be chilly, especially at night.
After collecting the caravan we headed out to buy some supplies: groceries and a guitar! I have decided that I cannot go on for three months without touching a guitar, so I headed out to a cash converters and bought an epiphone acoustic that I will sell back before leaving...probably to the same cash converters!
When we got out from the supermarket, we realised just how expensive things are over here. Careful shopping for 4/5 days for two people costed us 170 nz dollars!
All stocked up and ready to go we started making our way east, towards Akaroa, where we will visit our friends Laurie and Nancy. From the very first few kilometres we are already loving this place and cannot wait to see more of this beautiful country!
