Hello. Had a very busy few days. After going to Doi Inthanon we returned to Chinag Mai and the next day we caught an early morning bus to Chiang Dao. We just turned up there and had no idea where to go so just wandered up a hill where two Thai women spotted us and gave us lifts on their scooters to a guest house. The guest house was amazing. We stayed in a wooden hut with hammock and all on a peanut farm with a view over the northern mountains. We borrowed some bikes off Mumda the old lady who ran the guest house and explored. Went to the Chiang Dao caves and watched the sun set over the mountain. The next day we caught a bus to an elephant sanctuary which was amazing to see the animals but did seem a bit sad. One of the elephants painted a picture. Mad thought it was ok but I'd seen better.
The following morning we caught another bus (cheapest way to get around apart from kind ladies on scooters) through Fang to a village in the North West called Tha Ton. Tha Ton is on the Thai / Burma border and has amazing views along the Kok river (I laughed too) and over into Burma. Stayed in a pretty s***ty hostel with a toilet that you had to use a pan to flush. Also the cash machine had broken here so all we ate was bananas until we could catch the river boat to Chiang Rai.
The journey along the river was wicked. Views were stunning and I got to play with my camera in the water. We went past some elephants playing in the water (one of them did a wee wee) We also saw some lousy snakes. Currently In Chiang Rai which seems pretty cool. There are elephants wandering around with kids begging which makes me feel a bit sad but going to do some exploring in the morning. Mad is itching from mosquito bites but they have left me alone so far. Hoping to put some photos on soon. Internet here is a touch on the poop side. Love to all. x .
