The reason we are in Prague is because Christopher it's touring with the Boston Children's Chorus (BCC) to Prague and Berlin. They are commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of the second world war and the liberation of the concentration camps. It is a collaboration with the Terezin Foundation, to promote understanding of the terrible events of war and the holocaust. Terezin was a small town outside Prague, in 1941 all the residents were expelled and the Nazi's turned it into a ghetto and staging post, the majority of those incarcerated were sent to Auschwitz.
BCC with the help of sponsors, commissioned three new works. The singers and the composers spent the day at Terezin, even rewriting some of the pieces after the visit.
The concert was held in the Spanish Synagogue in Prague, a full house including the ambassadors of Israel, Ireland and USA. It was beautiful and very moving to hear such fabulous works including the three world premieres.
