We decided to fly to Ho Chi Minh City and took an hour, as opposed to a 10 hour train journey. It also cost less, go figure. Edd sat on the guest house computer and booked flights while I parcelled up our bits and pieces into a box; the post office had arrived with all the necessaries. The declaration form was filled out, signed, everything paid for and we watched 12.5kg's of stuff exit under the arm of the post office representative. I had 1 x very happy Edd.
We then left for the beach and got there at 11am, we found a spot in the restaurant area in a far corner and set up for the day. The Swiss girl and her boyfriend joined an hour later and the 4 of us swam, tanned and had a late lunch. The Swiss girls boyfriend had a bike issue as he'd parked it outside the French restaurant the day before, but it had somehow gotten switched. Who ever took it, had the same lock key as him (we thought they were unique) and had taken his bike by mistake (we think) he had a bike, it just wasn't the same as the one he'd had originally. The other theory is that the hostel had the spare and swopped it out, revving them for additional cash, which is common in these parts.
Edd and I went for one last swim, sad that we were not going to be spending the next day playing in the waves and soaking up the sun. We looked out for the jellyfish the Swiss girl had spotted when she had gone for a swim earlier, but couldn't see one. We reluctantly got out, dried off and started the 3km cycle back to our guest house.
Edd had our camera on top of the backpack in the bicycle basket as we cycled back from the beach, so he could take pictures of the paddy fields and rivers as he road past. At one point he hit a small bump in the road and the camera went flying. Luckily, I was behind him and quickly fetched it before it got ridden over by mopeds or cars. We'd bought a 'tough' camera for this very reason and were giving it a run for its money.
We packed our bags and were excited that they were now significantly lighter; we decided to not go for dinner anywhere, so got a take away and sat on the floor of our room at a little table, with a tumbler of red wine each. We watched bad movies on the tv while mosquitos buzzed around our heads; we had an early start the next day, as we were catching the red eye, so got an early night in preparation for the journey.
