So...just to finish off. As we were leaving Osaka-Jo castle we noticed a cat at the entrance to the main gate...then could hear another miaowing away, then another! Turned out there were 4, of which 3 were very interested in our company. So we let them walk round us for a bit before really needing to get back on the metro and head back to Awaza station and to our hostel to sleep. Another japanese style room and was good, though some candian girls came back at 2 and were bit loud (no issues there really until they decided it was ok time to use hair dryer!). But that fine really, slept in and got up to do the blog before checking out and heading over to Shin-Osaka for some lunch (ham baguettes!) and jumping on the Shink for the 3 hour journey to Tokyo (accompanied by two orange juice cartons, a coca cola each, a slice of chocolate yule log and some crisps!). Easy enough journey and managed to find our way to the Khaosan Tokyo Samurai hostel (same chain as Kyoto).
As we were taking ourselves on a quick tour upstairs we heard commentary to the world cup and luckily our new French Canadian friend Remy was watching it in the living room area...and only 25mins in! So managed to watch the whole world cup final which was cool. Then headed out to the Khaosan bar (the chain has 3 hostels close by, one of which has bar) for our free sake and a couple beers with Remy...then to a chinese restaurant for some quick food (edd = "saltiness noodles and chicken"; hel = chow mein). Really good actually, then back to the bar with Remy where it had really packed out with other travellers (Irish, English, Japanese, Italian, Dutch....) for couple more beers and just got back to the hostel now at 1215am. Lie in tomorrow and explore bit more of Tokyo on our last full day here. Couple things we want to buy etc before on to Australia on Tuesday! Cheers for the messages etc, good to know we have an audience reading our blog!

sof Sounds amazing. Glad the food is good too! Dave ran the Stroud half marathon today - came in 8th in 1hr 12m 30s ish which is about 30s faster than his PB. The top 4 were elite Kenyan runners so he really did storm it!! Just watching Toy Story 2 now... Hope you're taking some good photos! x
