Day 60 Fruit Picking -
Well it's Saturday, and for the second week in a row I went into work for the morning. It actually went very quickly, which was brilliant. All in all this week we still didn't manage to pick the whole farm twice, but in the end you can only do as much as you can do, with the number of workers available.
I was home by 1pm, so I had some lunch, then set about starting some work on the car. I quickly decided that the back seats bit you sit on, despite them folding down, took up too much room. When laying down on the mattress there wasn't quite enough space, and they took up an extra useable half a foot or so.
By simply taking out 2 bolts the bottom bit of the back seats could be lifed out all in one go. However by doing this the extra space where it used to fill, was just a big empty gap. I decided to make a bench style support, so it would prop up the end of the mattress, and things could be stored underneath, behind the front seats.
Making that support from miscellaneous pieces of wood at the house (despite it being nothing more than a functionally bodge job) took most of the afternoon.
Later on we took the raft from by the shed, round to the dam on the back of trailor, and launched it into the dam. It was really successful, and was very stable even with 3 people on it! Cecily, Diggor and I were just rowing it around using the dingy ores, when Dig's suggested using it as a diving platform. As he still had the cast on his leg, obviously I had to be the one to try it out...and did a front flip into the dam. Despite the water being pretty murky and disgusting, it was much warmer than the sea!
Later on after having a shower etc I just helped make dinner, and after we had eaten we decided to watch a film. We ended up watching a documentary on a 'horse whisper' (as I was taking the piss saying to Fenella it's all a load of rubbish), which was actually a big eye opener...what some people can get horses to do is incredible!
