dzasta travels
I hated the south. I didnt really see a lot cos I was travelling hard to get to the north. Vientiane didnt impress me with a lot to see, half the places were closed cos it was a holiday. Most of the problem was the time of year. Being a holiday and that stupid throwing water. For 4 days it was hell. Everytime you got changed and went outside "splash" and you had to walk around soaking wet again.
Vang Vieng is a party town. Full of doof doof music and ****** kids. I will leave that to the pommy gap year kids.
Luoang Phrabang I loved. I had a bit of time here to look around and interact with the locals. I dont think the place is special but I still loved it.
North of L.P. is stunning. Driving through the small villages and the vista's are special. This area is more about the journey than the places. I would like to spend more time up here.
All the hotels I stayed in were in the $5-$10 range, except one, and they were pretty good value for money.
The food was brilliant. Meat on a stick everywhere. Lots of different types of meat and fish all BBQ on a stick. It doesnt get better than that.
I noticed the flies were bad, more that anywhere else in the world. I think they were nearly as bad as they are in Australia. I also noticed a lack of birds. Even when I was in the jungle there were no birds. I dont know why it is just something I noticed.
The Lao people treat their country like a tip. There is rubbish everywhere. Along the side of the road it is worse than Australia. I was shocked at the amount of rubbish that went out the window of the busses.
Laos is dirt cheap to travel. I think I only spent $200 in the 9 days I was there. Everything is cheap.

Ngaere Luang Prabang is about the only place we would return to. The scenery is wonderful. Travelling on the bus is the best way to see it all. I look forward to seeing photos of norhter area.
