hello everyone ellie here!
I am writing from a VERY hot Kanchanaburi which is where we have been for the last two nights, lovely place, we are staying on the river in a little wooden hut which is pretty dingy and we have a gheko living under our bed! but brilliant views, its about a 20 min walk into the town which is a bit of a pain but all good exercise! So how did we manage to get here? WELL we got so fed up of bangkok that we packed our bags and TRIED to get a tuk tuk to the bust station, the thai man had no idea what we were talking about but drove us off anyway and took us to some of his 'english' speaking friends. they told us that NO buses are going there today and they pointed us in the way on the tourist office. a very confused ellie and amanda got off the tuktuk. we then got ANOTHER tuktuk and the diver was about 12 and he then got pulled over and he said 'i have no licence' but he was very amusing. so we then got to a tourist information office and they spoke very good english and were very helpfull. we booked a bus to kanchanaburi and a few nights in a guest house (Bamboo House). And here we are. We went and visited a tiger temple which was interesting to say the least, first off all i have to buy a fetching t-shirt at 300bahrt (about 6 quid) as you had to had your shoulders covered as there would be monks. great. so first souviner done! all the tigers were chained to the floor and each person had a thai person holding their hand so you could go close, very surreal but got some good piccys that will follow! we met some people in a bar last night and they have been travelling south east asia for about 6 months now and it was reassuring talking to them as they gave us some good tips and things (and it was nice to speak to some english people). So that was last night. Today we went to Erwan Waterfalls which were amazing, we went on an organised tour as we are still trying to get to grips with the public transport. this wasnt great but it was a brill day. We have just finished eating dinner and were going to head back to our room soon as we are getting picked up tomorrow and heading to Ayutyya (about 1 and a half hours on the train) then the next day we are getting the night train up to chang mai which we have 4 nights, 2 of wich include a trekk. We then have planned to get a boat down the river into Loas. So fingers crossed it will all go smoothly!
We both miss everyone lots and will try and make phonecalls when we work out how to buy a phone card hahah xxxxxxxxx
