30th-2nd May, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
We woke up at 10 on the 30th, showered packed and got on the bus to the Cameron Highlands. The journey started off fine but after a couple hours, when we got to the start of the actual highlands, the roads started to get ridiculously windy so our heads started to pound a little. We arrived at Daniels Lodge at 4pm and settled in. No air-con was needed as we were so high up. It was very basic but very friendly. We read for an hour before going for a wonder and getting some food. Came back to read some more and watched a bit of the Hangover in the communal TV room before getting a snack dinner at Starbucks.1st May. Woke up at 7.30am and got in a long wheel base Land Rover Defender. There 4 of us from Daniels Lodge and we picked up 3 others on the way. We drover 30 mins then turned straight off a main road onto a water-logged and almost impassable jungle trail/track, even for the Landies. Ricky was in his element for the next 40 minutes till we parked up, with a solid imprinted grin on his face. 15 of us walked through the jungle for an hour to the worlds biggest flower, Rafflesia. We stopped at an Aboriginal village on the way back to try out some native hunting blow-pipes. We bought a smaller version, about a quarter of the size. We then headed to the Boh Tea Plantation where we drove through acres of tea terraces before arriving at the factory. After watching the manufacturing process we had some tea and scones and bought some presents. Final stop was a strawberry farm where we had a strawberry milkshake and some strawberrys and ice-cream between us. We got dropped off at the hotel after horrendous Labour Day traffic at 7pm. Dinner then a well-earned sleep.
