Woke up early in my laundry and packed up for the long trek to Cartagena.
Thankfully the train station had a cafe. "un cafe' solo por favor" a few minutes later "un cafe' kon la leche por favor" They always seem to smile when i try to speak Spanish......i'm not too sure if that's good or bad....hmmm
The rail took about 5 hours in total with a layover in Murcia. Np dudes and dudettes im a natural at train station slumber and living on trail mix and 'una botella de agua por favor'. I had a hotel booked about a block away from the station and found it with ease. Turned out to be pretty good.
It was sweltering here when i got in. So i just dropped all my gear in the room and headed out for a poke around. No maps to be found as all the shops close up from around noon or one o'clock till after four. I took off towards the marina and found two Roman ruins along the way. Really cool i must say......this will be a place for us to come back to and see the museums proper. Too hot.......had to make like a local and take a nap.
Now dinner doesnt start here till 8 pm so a nap is necessary to stay up and eat. I tried what they call a "menu' del dia" Im pretty sure it had to be about the best meal i've had on this whole trip.....a fresh tropical salad, cold cuts, Paella and a slice of fancy chocolate cake. All of this with a couple of glasses of rose' for trece euro! Fantastic.
now its 11 and im tired talk to you again tomorrow from Cabo de Palo.
