(12 December)
Today was basically a travel day! Got up, paid for the room (got away with 80k a night instead of 90), got some more aloe Vera from the plant for my bites which were getting much better, and had breakfast. The girls walked down with me when they were going to the beach and left me at the ticket office. From there I had a 2 hour boat to Bali, then maybe 90 mins to Kuta, where I killed time, having lunch and a wander around the shops. Was glad I hadn't come back the night before though because I really wasn't fussed!
It started to rain so I picked up my rucksack and got a taxi to the airport. The taxi driver was another "wow you're on your own?!" person...apparently no-one goes to Bali on their own? Lol, but he was pretty friendly and chatty. I was in the airport pretty early which was a bit of a melt because you can't even go in to the airport until check in opens, and there isn't even seats to sit on! So I read a bit on the floor for an hour or so lol. When i finally got through I then got the pleasant surprise of a 150,000RP if you want the pleasure of going through to departures to catch your flight...con artists! I had to go back out of the airport and queue to get back in because obviously I had been trying to get rid of my Indonesian money so had none left! Was pretty unimpressed. It was a very unexciting, overpriced airport, so I just found a plug to charge my iPod and chilled out for a bit.
The flight was good, I wasn't sure if we would get a meal because it was quite late but we did - KLM definitely serve much better food than Qantas haha. Got to watch the end of Crazy, Stupid, Love which was really good, and then started watching The Change-up, which is alright, nothing exciting but worth a watch!
Arrived around midnight and all the public transport was finished until the morning so I had decided to sleep in the airport! I could have checked in to the airport hotel but figured I'd be grand, found a big comfy chair and skyped my mum then went to sleep. It wasn't quite as easy as I expected, not the most comfortable in the world, but my main failure was forgetting about air conditioning - I was freezing!! I woke up around half 4 really cold, and went for a wander. Had the great idea of going outside to warm up (everything is so backwards here!) but even the outside garden thing was air conditioned! Why?! Haha. So I went on the computers and looked for a hostel, then had a sandwich and smoothie from O'Brien's for breakfast which was good, then it was finally time for the trains to be running again! I went and picked my bag up from the uncollected luggage desk and headed for the MRT.
