Rome Arrived in Rome about Wednesday 9pm after a flight from Bordeaux. Our hotel room is huge compared to others so far. Next time we come we will opt for apartments for all stops. Much nicer to have more space but the upside with hotels is you get to meet more people which has been lovely. Lots of Aussies staying at our Rome hotel. Maybe only outnumbered by UK group on a tour. Tour guide was barking orders at a few dawdlers at breakfast yesterday. Really funny as they took no notice like naughty children.
After breakfast we headed of to see the sights. Immediately we both felt the heat & decided not to spend hours walking as is often the case as we have 4 days in Rome when we finish our cruise & it will be cooler then, well maybe. Walked around the colleseum area with tourists from all over the world. A magnificent area with so much history.
Today we are joining our cruise on Queen Elizabeth around the Mediterranean for 5 weeks. We are both really looking forward to this part of our trip, seeing so much in such a short time but no packing. My only concern is the formal nights, a I only have 2 dresses but not long dresses. Oh well, if they are too upmarket we can opt for the buffet. No such worry for guys, they can just change shirt & tie.
