The entrance to St Paul de Vence is shadowed by the high and quite thick stone rampart walls surrounding the town which would have been quite a formidable barrier to those wishing to attack the small town, but not as imposing as the cannon jutting from the wall pointing down the entrance road. Today it is a peaceful little mecca for tourists to view original artworks , jewelry, pottery and other nearly forgotten crafts which still abound in the area.
