Boca Chica, Panama is a small fishing village. There are many out islands here. It took us only a couple of hours to drive from the Boquette and Caldera area to Boca Chica. We are staying at Seagull Lodge, run by Avril and Derek. It is very nice and we have very comfortable small casitas. Our first day we took a water taxi into the main village of Boca Chica, with the intention of maybe doing some shopping. But found it was a simple small fishing village with no shopping to be had. Donnie and Jim were pleased. Last night we went on a short sunset boat trip around some of the islands with our hosts.
Today we went to Balanos Island to snorkel. It was just like a tropical island from a movie set. It was so beautiful. Our guide, Leo and his son, Charlie took us around lots of the out islands to take pictures and see the sights. The weather was perfect and the ocean crystal clear.
When we returned from the snorkeling trip we travel inland a bit to a 'howler monkey refuge' called Aoulette Lodge. It was another crazy drive up a ver bumpy dirt road in the middle of jungle but OMG ! It ended up to be much more than we thought ! The monkeys crawled and cuddled with all of us ! You have to check out the pictures....
