Barcelona
Today we had a morning of sightseeing with a local guide driving around Monjuich to see the Olympic stadium and a panoramic view of the port and city. We visited La Famiglia which is one of Gaudí's most famous works inBarcelona. It's a giant Basilica that has been under construction since 1882 and will not be finished for another 30 years. We visited the Marina and saw the Columbus Monument which is a 60 m tall monument to Christopher Columbus to honour his first voyage to the Americas.
We also visited the Palau Nacional which is a neo-Baroque style home to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC). Its collection includes Roman, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque art as well as 19th and 20th century works of art. At the center of a plaza in front of the Palau Nacional is Barcelona's biggest ornamental fountain, Font Màgica or Magic Fountain, built in 1929 for the International World fair. This fountain offers a spectacular display of music, water acrobatics and lights which generate over 50 kinds of shades and hues. It is a series of fountains stretching about two long blocks and ending at a huge fountain complex at the foot of MNAC-National Museum of Art. Di and I visited this spectacular display and had the most amazing experience.
