The trip down south didn't start off well, felt sick throught the plane, bus & boat journey from Bangkok to Surat Thani and onto Koh Samui but tried to sleep it off along the way. Met up with Hans in the evening and we picked up were had left off in Nepal, great to catch up and exchange stories about the last 3 months which have flown by!
Sunday morning woke up to thunderstorms, tremendous! They did ease off eventually & went off exploring on Hans' scooter along the north west of the Island seeing different beaches and also the big Buddha. We arrived as a plane was landing, it felt like Bora Bora in Ibiza minus the boom boom beats so more like Buddha Buddha!! In the afternoon went over to the main beach Chameng which was chocca & was hilarious seeing Hans having his first fitting for a suit later.. (fcuk suit too long ya fcuk!). Has some real good Jager schnitzel & headed back to Maenam fer a few bevvies at the 'Happy' bar.
The next day hired motorbikes as there were 3 of us and headed through the mountains via some stunning scenic views including the Santiburi golf course and then onto a top beach called Silver Beach. Initially when arrived it absolutely chucked it down but once it cleared up it was paradise floating in the warm, emerald waters. Had the last supper in the evening Hans with his Messi top on moi with my Marley top so its the new uber strikeforce Messi & Marley!
Said goodbye in the morning to Hans & got boat over to Koh Phangan, it was the shortest journey yet, less than two hours from leaving one beach hut to arriving at the other one! Met up with Dutch Hans & caught up which was cool then met friends in the evening for a Messi nite. Started off at Mellow Mountain.. then headed to the infamous Coral bungalows pool party, back to Haad Rin for some beach partays then back to Coco Gardens via Shiva moon party. My friend wasn't back yet and he had the key so had a choice of sleeping in the hammock or following the beats in the background.. headed down the beach to a place called Hacienda throwing out some tech house & classics, mint! Slept in the hammock once the party finished till my mate eventually came home.
The day after chilled out, it was the actual full moon today but due to a Buddhist holiday had been put back a day. Was a shame as missed out on the Jungle experience party that is normally the night before full moon party. The day of the full moon got all our war paint etc then headed over to Haad Rin and met up with friends in the Same Same bar which was blasting out rock anthems. Headed to the beach and had a good night, the best bit was dancing drenched in the rain in the early hours of the morning. Got back to the beach hut and that's when it all went pete tong.. padlock gone and knew immediately what had happened, absolutely gutted... Everything gone including all my back up photos.. was lost for words. Headed to the local police station to file a report but was wondering around like a headless chicken all day.. depressed doesn't even come close.
NExt day headed off wanted to get away from the Island so headed to Surat Thani via boat then bus to Krabi. We arrived in Krabi early avvo and had a walk around by the estuary which was nice and had two lord of the rings style cliffs which were awesome. Went to Walking Street at night for the cheap food & clothes nightmarkets and headed back to the top of the hostel at night for drinks on the sky bar overlooking Krabi.
The first full day in Krabi woke up early & had a hearty breakfast before heading to the Tiger temple. Walked up all the 1237 steps to the top for great views of Krabi, Railay & Koh Phi Phi on the horizon. Was a bit gutted not to be able to take pics though and really felt the absence of my camera. Saw some caves & walked in the jungle also so was a great day out. We hitch-hiked back to Krabi town via a 3 wheeler motorbike which was lots of fun. Mid-afternoon headed to Ao Nang beach which was nice with rocks sticking out left right & centre although the sea was a bit murky for Thailand standards. Went to the nightmarket again for cheap food (50p for chilli rice) & drinks and had a couple of bevvies in the Playground bar at the bottom of our decent hostel.
The day after decided to head to Malasya, had had enough of Thailand and wanted a change of scenery so got the bus down to Satun via Trang and the boat across to Langkawi and was there by late afternoon. Keep kicking myself & beating myself up about the theft but at the end of the day its completely my fault should have put it in the safe I guess.. gutted but nobody can take away the amazing times and memories I have had in these last 4 months thus far. They will forever live long in my heart :)
