The last couple of weeks have flown by.. got to Singapore and met a guy in the hostel from a town 10km away from my hometown in Italy (Bitonto) which was cool so we hung around for a few days. Singapore is bloody expensive however so the little I did see was all done on two feet but was still nice going through the different areas in the city. Got to the airport and thought they weren't gonna let me outta the country.. Got a 10yr passport and the pic is from 8yrs ago.. needless to say took a lot of convincing that it was the same person.. they were like its not you.. Yes it is..!! Had a Singapore Sling at the bar to chill me out pre-flight. The flight itself was good and on the way down to Sydney flew over the Blue Mountains at dawn which were stunning.
Crashed at the hostel in Kings Cross for a bit then headed out into the city which is cool as seeing all the main sights, the Harbour bridge, Opera House, Botanical gardens, the Rocks and Darling Harbour. What was bizarre was seeing fallen leaves on the ground, was weird going from Asian spring to the Australian Autumn. Got inspired from all the locals jogging/running & went for a run around in Hyde Park which was good but bit slippy due to the leaves! Saw an Aboriginal dance show by the Opera house which was real good.
The next couple of days were all about hitting Sydney's different beaches. Started off at Bondi which was awesome and then also hit Bronte & Coogee beaches. The currents are so strong here, felt like a right tit trying to swim literally 10 meters to shore but with the strong current felt like someat outta cartoon as wasn't moving anywhere.. in Bronte the sea was usually closed to swimmers was that strong! Met couple of sound guys in the dorm which made it better for eating as could split the cost, everything in Oz is at least double the price back home!! Pasta is the cheapest thing but feeling real bloated as first time had it since leaving home! Had some good nights out fuelled by the goon and then onto the seedy Kings Cross which is lots of fun.
Got an overnight bus to Byron Bay but as we left Sydney it seemed the whole city was rocking as everyone had finished work for Easter weekend and were out partying. Had people at the bus station thinking was German, Arab, Brazilian & Swedish.. obv drunk haha! Byron Bay was heaving and buzzing due to the Blues Festival but the prices for everything rocketed up as a result.. didn't make it to the festival due to the extortionate cost of even a day ticket but there were plenty of people jamming everywhere downtown which was fun to be around.
From good friday to today its been a case of beach, trying to bodysurf then food, goon and out on the tiles. Made the mistake of going for a semi-pissed up run in my swimshorts and chafed to fook which bloody killed the next day especially when got into the saltwater.. Beach here at Byron is awesome and spent time on both the main beach and also the quieter one where made friends from another hostel. Had Kangaroo steak for Easter supper which was nice but its a bit stringy meat. Off to Surfers Paradise on thursday for the weekend which will be wicked.
