Baiyoke Tower -The Special Day
Today has just been spent on the Khao San Road, relaxing and planning our next part of our adventure. Tonight we're heading to the Baiyoke Tower for the evening, in the heart of Bangkok. The Baiyoke Tower boasts to be the highest building in thailand and is the 48th tallest in the world. Now heading into the busy part of the city by Tuk Tuk, traffic jams and noise fill the roads. Our driver drops us off at the base of the Baiyoke tower, We go up to the 19th floor to book our ticket, Jade and I have decided that we will eat at the top of this gargantuan building aswell... budget out of the window for one night only! We reach the top of the tower by a superfast elevator to the 84th floor, thank goodness we didnt have to walk up the stairs! The view is incredible, and we still have a few more floors to go until we can go out to the observation deck. We both try walking toward the glass windows but our legs start to go like jelly so we slowly move away from them. We now climb the final stairs to reach the top floor and 360degree arial view across Bangkok City, It is truly incredible. We cannot believe our eyes, what a spectacular view, sky scrapers filling one side of the horizon to the huge Chao Phraya river crossing through to the other. We can even make out where we are staying, looking down at the people they look like ants. These views are breathtaking.
Jade and I now head down to the 81st floor where the buffet is being served, the food is out of this world, serving the freshest oysters and seafood to succulent meat being dished out on the carvery section, Sushi and a wonderful array of desserts. I think our favourite was the salad bar, wow what a selection! Now with our cocktails drunk, the sun setting and plates of food devoured, this has got to be one of the best nights of my life. Words cannot describe how special we felt.
This spectacular night really couldn't get any better as we head to the night time views of Bangkok, wow again. Breath taking. So romantic some would say, I'm now hugging Jade and have my hand clenched, I am somewhat nervous and Jade is telling me how amazing and special her night has been (little did she know what was about to happen). I drum up the courage and beat my nerves, and ask Jade if she will marry me, to which she replies "Real life??" she sees the ring and says yes, to my relief, then starts crying with happiness, we then hold each other so tight underneath the starlit skies of Bangkok
