Long day, but a good one.

Started the day quite a bit early, as the hostel had some early wakers. I found, yesterday, a problem with my air conditioning, and I wanted to get it fixed, but unfortunately, the gentleman I went to quoted approximately three hundred dollars just to look at it. I decided I could live without A/C until a mechanic that won't gouge me.

Had a nice breakfast at a bagel place, bought an all-day CTA rail and bus pass, and went downtown to explore. After wandering around for a while, and considering afternoon tickets to the Book of Mormon, I ended up heading to the Field Museum, where I spent most of the early afternoon. The exhibits, specifically the ones covering the mammals, birds, the planet's history, and the history of Africa were the best ones, along with the special exhibit on Bioluminescence. Unfortunately, there was no photography in the bioluminescence exhibit, but I learned a lot.

Sue, of course, was amazing, and I took about fifteen photos from every angle.

In the afternoon, I was actually very slowly taken in by a fast-talking shoe shine woman who approached me, and squirted shoe polish on my runners. I knew I wasn't going to escape without paying some amount of money, but once I called her on it, I thought she'd at least drop the pretense. It was a pretty terrible shoe shine, but it was worth it just for the quick talk.

Came back in the afternoon, after fruitlessly searching for a deep dish chicago pizza place, and took a quick lie down. In the evening, Adrian, his girlfriend, Lindsay, and I, went out for a couple of drinks and had a wonderful evening.

Tomorrow I leave for St. Louis, which is a shorter drive than the past couple days.

Chicago was wonderful, and I could honestly see myself living here, it's probably the closest city to a canadian one that I've found. I need to get myself a deep dish tomorrow, and my trip to Chicago will have been complete.
