Hey Guys,
Sorry its been a while, been busy bee's! Okay a quick update. After Sevilla we went to Valencia, which was about 20 something degrees so we topped up the tan on the beach for Jamie's birthday. We then moved on to Barcelona and met some really cool people and saw a little of the great city, including Les Ramblas and Gaudi's great buildings. However Jamie had his wallet pickpocketed on the Metro which was a bummer. But hey, thats life and it aint stopping us. We then moved on to Nimes in southern France which was brilliant. The hostel was fun [the barman Andy a legend who is putting a pic of us up on the wall], and the city was stunning. We went to an awsome food market which i must say England has to adopt, and we also had a tour of the Roman Ampitheatre which is spectacular. From there we moved on to Nice on the French Riverra and oddly bumped into one of the girls from Barcelona, an American girl called Roseline. We done a nighttime stroll round the city and saw the fireworks that marked the end of there carnavel. The next day we visited Monaco which is amazing. We walked the famous street F1 track and saw how the otherside live, the amount of Ferraris and such like there is unbelievable. We walked the seafront and saw the castle. We even had a coffee in the Monte Carlo Tea and Chocolate Rooms! Very Posh! We finished the day by having pizza right on the starting straight of the tack, literally on the first corner! We moved on to Genova in Northern Italy the next day and the train ride which followed the coast was spectacular. We found a great bar to watch the football in where the locals were almost honoured to have us there. The hostel itself was also at the top of a mountain, overlooking the sea. We only stopoped there overnight, and the following day Liam headed off to Milan and Venice while Jamie went to Florence [more to follow on Liams trip]. Florence is truely beautiful and it was made even better as JAmie stayed with hisold uni friend Anna who is doing a PhD there. He got to relive his student days in there student bar, however can not remember toooo much of that night. The next afternoon he got to see some of the sights of the city, including the building where Hannibal Lecter hanged the police chief in Red Dragon. That night Jamie, Anna, and a British girl called Cat went to a great cocktail bar with super live music. We also headed to an undergroung club and eventually an illegal kebab house. Thats right, you have to knock specially on the door to get in lol! Dont worry it wasnt too dodgy, just its illegal for clubs and kebab shops to open past a certain hour but they do anyhow. Liam arrived in Florence the next day and we saw more of the city, including Michaelangelos tomb and his memorial statue [a remake of David]. After Florence we moved on to Rome which was great. We walked for miles and explorted the Collesium, the Forum, Trevi Fountain, and the Vatican where we got to see Sunday mass! Unfortunatly the Sisten Chapel was closed, but we found a great Italian restaurant instead! The next day we set off on a mamouth jouney, we got ther train to the Italian coast and jumped aboard a Ferri to Greece. We had 20 hours to kill and it was Liams birthday so you can imagine the rest im sure. Anyway we only had deck passes so when we awoke on the floor the next day we knew we would need to stay the night in the ferry port, a city called Patras. Unfortunatly the only room available was a really nice hotel, b***** hey. But it was nice to have a little luxury after nearly 5 weeks on the road. Today we hopped on a bus [our Interrail tickets have now ran out] and drove to Athens. First impressions are not good, its really dirty and grimy but hopefull tomorrow will shed a new light on the great city, especially when we visit the ancient sights! Anyhow, must dash, travelling to do, places to see and all that. Promise not to leave it so long before another update, and will get some pics up soon! Byeeeeeeeeeeeee!
