Goa - Agonda Beach, Panjim and Old Goa
'Sossegarde' Goa - the former Portuguese State of India lays mid-way down the South-West Coast. Goa was the Portuguese's first port in Asia, serving as a major trade network for over 450 years.
Agonda Beach - This beach came highly recommended, as did the wonderful Nepalese hospitality of the 'The Sandy Feet Guest House'. A week of bliss was to be found in hanging out on the empty beach with great sand, great waves, great food, great people - 'twas a perfect spot. Kaman, the 20 year old Chef, sent me home with some new recipes for Chili Momos, Sandhekos, Sizzlers and Chips Chili to add to the reportoire.
Panjim - Pastel coloured colonial buildings, white washed churches, beautiful gardens and empty narrow winding streets made this town feel more like Southern Europe than India.
Old Goa - Unfortunately, the former city and streets are all gone from this lost town due to cholera and malaria outbreaks and all that is left are churches, of which there are many for such a small area. The gate with the statue of a Spaniard with a foot on an Indian was a bit of a shocker.
