Just a short postcard for everyone!
I've arrived in Hong Kong. Safe and sound. I've just been tooling around town today and ran into this internet cafe. (Ironically, it's inside a McDonalds.) No new pictures downloaded yet, but I'll get to that soon enough.
For those of you interested, there's a 12 hour difference (13 for some of you), so your day is my night. It was a fairly easy transition, surprisingly enough. Guess all that excitement kept me awake on the plane. Crashed hard when I got to my hotel.
General sight seeing today. Victoria Peak is at the top of Hong Kong and you have to take a tram up the incredibly steep mountain. But the view at the top is amazing--this is not a sight for those with vertigo. Hong Kong is overcast, but I can just imagine what it must look like on a clear day. Talk about seeing for miles. I also plan on enjoying the light show tonight over the harbour from the Kowloon side of town.
Before I sign off, I want to thank all my friends who came by on Friday night to see me off. Especially because I surprised all of you with tasks that I just couldn't get done before the plane took off. That'll teach you to ask if there is anything you can help with. Appologies. And a special thanks to Chris who was sent away with a long list of things to finish up for me. You are a godsend. But be sure to know that I'm keeping everyone's enormous acts of kindness in mind as I'm shopping all around.
I'll check in again soon.
