Leaving Bahrain for Australia
After a few hectic months of researching, organising, packing, goodbyes, disorganising and reorganising, we were finally ready to say goodbye to our adopted home of Bahrain. We have grown so much in the past six years, from buying a new jetski to a broken pelvis when I crashed it, we'd bought and sold our first dream house on the Floating City, adopted two street cats - Weasel & Pique, travelled the Middle East and beyond, gotten married, grown professionally, partied hard and made many new friends for life. It was only fitting to have spent our last night in Bahrain with good mates at a Boxtones concert in the Brit Club. A Band whose songs bring back many good memories and nights out with the Bahrain massive.
Australia
After a long flight we arrived in Oz at 6pm and hit the ground running with Aidan's Birthday Party in Bondi. Met many new friendly faces and saw some oldies from our London days. After my second glass of wine, I felt as if I was rocking on a boat - must've been my reaction to jetlag, as this continued for about a week thereafter, until I finally found my land legs. Sydney was as gorgeous and lively as I expected it to be. We spent the next week walking along Bondi, eating out and in with Aidan & Liz (Aidan's a really good cook), the boys went to an AFL game, we went sightseeing with Anna, Chris & Alina in Sydney Harbour and to Manly Beach, Chris then drove us to Canberra to check out our new home, and we had a fun night out in a dodgy casino (note to self: don't take advice on where to go in Canberra from taxi drivers) then onto an Irish pub and a Tapas bar. Saw some really cool places to live the Australia dream - And, Yes, Australia is as expensive as everyone told us it would be. We'll be back in 2014!
