Thursday 6 June - Wednesday 12 June
Rosarito, Mexico/Baja California
Put simply......we came for 3 days, stayed for a week (and coulda/woulda/shoulda stayed longer). A week we will both savour for some time. We crossed into Mexico via the Tijuana border without as much as a blink, no passport control, no customs inspections, no nothing.......nada, that was easy, too easy. But hey, ask questions later right? "Onwards to Rosarito, please Maggie!" (our lovely chauffeur with the magnetic door decals announcing her name). The lift doors opened up on the 2nd floor of Los Conchas, Club Marena to our shock/horror when we were greeted only by a tiny wide-eyed baba rocking happily in her carry-chair. "Wrong floor?" was the look we gave each other. Cue Annelise from around the corner.......we laughed!
Annelise and baby Daniela were the perfect hosts, our first three day itinerary so professionally arranged it flew by in a wink. Tapanco Steakhouse (salsa made fresh at your table, strange salad serving and our first authentic margaritas)......local grocery shopping, drinks on the balcony, wine tasting in the Baja California wine valley (highlight!), a night of fun, cantinas, birthday tequilas, & cadillac margaritas in TJ (Tijuana) with Chef Ryan and Suzie, Donna brooding just a little after feeding and dressing and holding Baby D, bodyboarding, haircuts in a bus, spanglish lessons, great company, and more drinks on the balcony, all in the comfort of home.
