...China Town. Sri Mariamman Temple...
Left Thailand this morning and was so pleased to get out of there. Admittedly I was just getting used to it and that was mainly due to the staff at the Bhiman Inn being so brilliant but Bangkok is absolute chaos and the whole place was exhausting, the airport reminded once again of all that.
I'm so pleased to be in Singapore. The staff at the Travellers Rest Stop are so helpful and friendly plus the weathers much nicer as its not as humid and there is no pollution at all; such a lovely difference compared to Bangkok.
I spent the evening looking around the China Town street markets (the food and night market, unfortunately the main market is being renovated at the moment). They're was such a lovely atmosphere to the market and the streets of China Town are wonderful and decorated with tons of chinese lanterns.
In the evening I also visited the Sri Mariamman Temple, which is the oldest Hindu Temple in Singapore originally built in 1827. It was interesting watching the Hindu people coming to say their prayers and learning about the ceremonies that take place there. It was wonderfully ornate and showed how a Hindu Temple could respectfully belong in China Town. There really is a diverse culture in Singapore with so many different races and religions existing alongside each other.
