Sunday 17th February
We have arrived in New Zealand at Auckland. We are not now spending two days here as the ship isn't being mended until we get to Dubai. So we are back now to the original ports of call in New Zealand. This morning we took a ferry across the harbour to Devonport. It is the oldest suburb of Auckland and has some lovely old weatherboard houses built in the late 1800's. It was a beautiful area and would be a wonderful place to live but undoubtedly expensive! The photo was taken from the ferry looking back at Auckland city. Our ship is the one with the yellow funnel. You can also seethe Sky Tower higher than all the other buildings. You can go up it and put on a harness, clip on to the outer ring and walk round! Or you can bungee jump from it!! Strangely Dad turned down both these activities! We did see someone bungee jump from it. They must be mad. We are now sitting in a bar in the America Cup village drinking wine - it's a hard life!
