Adventures of a Global Wanderer
dubai cont.. .
heat is really bad.. i am cooked.. i was told not to show up at the wedding like a burnt crisp.. oh well.. i had places to see.. i tried to use that arab headress thing but it was useless.. i should have stuck to my baseball cap to keep my face in the shade..
full of desis.. indians, pakistan, sri lankan, sikhs, bangladeshis.. some filopinos and other south east asians but not sure if thailand or indonesia... for once i am invisible on this trip and completely blend in with all the indians/pakis... nobody has bothered me.. urdu is pretty much the official language with all the guest workers
jeep safari was good.. didnt feel any sinking feeling but was fun rocking around like in a roller coaster and tilting to one side.. belly dance was good too and she balanced a sword in all kinds of places have to show pics
today took the bus to al ain on the border with oman so i could see the fortress on the other side.. stupid people did not let me walk across the border saying it was for locals only and i had to take the other border 5 km away.. so i had to find a cab.. at the border the guy says togo immigratioin but i didnt see anything so i carried on walking and got in a cab on the oman side.. the fortress was really nice like a sandcastle.. got a cab driver to drive me back across the border.. i put my arab headress on so we didnt get stopped and they thought we were local
went to ibn buttuta mall today.. he travelled from spain to china so the mall is shaped in each section of the places he visited.. again amazing architecture.. this is sightseeing mall .. tomorrow i will goto the egyption pharoah mall and the italian venetian mall..
watching what i eat.. used local buses a bit and cabs so mix of both.. cabs are actually quite cheap because of the oil here.. the place i am staying is like picadilly circus coz its all lit up and they are building a metro stop here...
tomorrow will take the bus to sharjah to see more of the historical/cultural sights.. tonigh off to the souks.. tomorrow will be fun... check out am.. leave my bags at the airport and wander around for the day.. i can still hear the niteclubs even though they moved me to the top floor...
anyway.. i should run now.. only slept maybe 4 hours last nite.. i figured leave early and take the early bus to al ain to avoid the heat.. left hotel at 5am and took the first bus at 630.. .didnt work out in the end as i am still a burnt crisp.. oh well.. one more day left in the sun and islamabad will be 10 degrees cooler in pakistan....
