The distance between Airlie Beach and Rainbow Beach is so vast that Oz Experience incorporate a compulsary stop into the timetable. I have another one coming up at 'Surf Camp' (guess what I'll be doing there!) but this one was at Kroombit Cattle Ranch, a real working cattle ranch which has converted some of its stables - yes stables - into comfortable (???) sleeping quarters for 8, so that's 1 horse to 8 humans! And so the journey continues....following the tried and tested tourist route I headed down to Airlie Beach for the infamous and obligitory Whitsundays trip. Airlie Beach is a compact but enjoyable little coastal town. Everyone is in mighty high spirits when they are here because they're either just about to go, or have just come back from, their Whitsundays boat trip. I met 3 really lovely girls in my dorm on the first night, which was pretty cool, so I hung out...

Magnetic Island is just such a beautiful place! I could have happily spent another few days here but alas my tight schedule to see the whole of the East coast in 28 days will not permit this. To get to Magnetic Island you catch a ferry from Townsville and then jump on one of their excellent buses which service the island virtually 24 hours a day! And now my Oz experience road trip starts.....a hop on/hop off bus which I'll be taking all the way down to Melbourne over a 28 day period. It differs from the greyhound, allegedly, as the drivers provide on board commentary and the journey includes some additional activities such as walks, surf lessons etc..
