Hello hello everyone. You will be very glad to know that it has been WARM here the last few days.Yesterday was 24 degrees, never felt anything so good.I seriously needed some sun.
I have been in DC now for a week and half staying with family. It has been soooo good to have my own room but no lie ins for me.Please note people: children = no sleep.I do love my little cousins though. Will just need to sleep by the pool in Las Vegas J
So not too many shenanigans to report I am afraid to say.I know this is probably going to disappoint a lot of you but I promise to try and make up for it over the next few weeks.
The first week I was here it was absolutely freezing so guess what I decided to do……… yip an open top tour bus!At least I had Amanda with me this time and we froze our buts of together. We ended up having to go downstairs after about half an hour and didn't get off at one single stop.
Managed to walk around some of the sites on Friday when it was warmer.Did the usual touristy stuff -White House (with snipers on the roof), Capitol Hill, a few monuments, crime and punishment museum. My aunt also organised a tour inside the Pentagon, you got shown round the building and they showed you where the plane hit on 9/11.They have built a really nice monument outside the Pentagon to commemorate it, had a wonder around that as well.It actually really hits you when you see where the stuff happened, hard to explain really.
To cheer ourselves up Amanda and I went for a lovely manicure and pedicure. While you are getting the stuff done (an hour and a half in total) you sit in this massage chair.I have never felt anything so good; it honestly felt like someone was giving you a proper massage and quite a rough one at that.I do like it rough though ;-) ha ha.After that I went and had a facial, have to say this is up there with one of the best days I have had so far.I could get used to this sort of thing.
So it was Halloween when I was here.It is huge in America, most of the houses have some sort of decorations up - again a lot of it is OTT but fun for the kids I suppose. It's funny though, as well as going round the doors the kids here go to the malls dressed up and go round all of the shops where they get sweets.Might be fun for the kids but definitely NOT fun for the adults. Please note - Halloween in America = sore head.
On the Saturday after Halloween I decided to try my hand at being a zombie fighter. Was dreading it a bit but turned out to be a lot of fun.It started at 7pm and you were given this book of clues which lead you to different places around the city.Once you got to the place you had to find another clue which lead you somewhere different etc.In the mean time you had these zombies jumping out and chasing you.So in the end you had to collect 4 final clues, put them together and get to your final destination.Thank feck the final destination was a diner that served alcohol.Only managed one drink as we had a 60 mile drive home.
So Las Vegas tomorrow.I cannot wait, I think this time I am going to win some serious money. The hostel that I am staying at looks amazing, it has a pool and a hot tub. That combined with the free tequila party on Thursday could end up being quite messy.I have not been drunk once since I have been in DC (yeah I know, what is up with me) so I plan to make up for that!
MISS YOU ALL
