So eventually I get to work! Got picked up by John, the boss, at Masterton train station. Met Felix, the German guy I am going to be working with as well.
Flat Point really is in the middle of nowhere. I will not be able to go anywhere apart form here until I leave. The nearest pub is half an hour away - OH NO! On a good note, at least I won't be able to spend any of the money I am making here.
Get free internet and laundry so eventually I managed to update my diary and blog.
The place is absolutely stunning as you can tell by the pictures. It's absolutely huge as well - 20,000 sheep and 1,500 cattle!

So apart from working and craving chocolate I have been doing nothing.
Has some cows come and visit, they walked right into our garden. Apart from them I have only seen about 10 people while I have been here!
Got to drive a tractor yesterday which was very cool. Felix was so jealous ha ha.
John and Mary are lovely. Mary looks after the lodges as well as many other things and John does the vineyard with us. The work is pretty good, it's good to get some physical work. Hopefully I will get a nice wee tan after working outside all of this time as well. The beach is only a few mins walk away so have been making the most of that as well.
Got a wee extra job as one of the houses on the land. Just cleaning but it's extra money for when Katie comes over on the 27th April - woohoo. We are going to spend 10 days touring the bottom half of the south island.
I also got a new job today here - www.furneauxlodge.co.nz. Looks really stunning as well. It's a resort at the tip of the south island. It's really cool - you need to get a water taxi to even get there. I will work here until about the 20th April, do some traveling in the top half of the south island then head to Christchurch to meet Katie. Will have lots more to write about then, more traveling and no work!

My last day of work today.
The last week has been really good. Doing some vineyard and gardening work.
Also worked a few extra hours on Saturday. Charles, John and Mary's son had a party in his house so we just went and helped out with the food and stuff. Was nice to meet other people, had a really good laugh. Even got a wee bit tipsy - my first in 4 weeks. No drunkeness though - I am saving that for the weekend when I am back in Wellington!
Been thinking a lot about what my plan is for the future. The job situation isn't the best over here at the minute, the economy is suffering just as much as ours. I don't think I am going to be able to get a good permanent job. Think I am going to go to Oz in June/July after traveling the full of NZ and stay there until Nov/Dec. Will do the same as here - work and travel. After that I think I will head to SE Asia for a few weeks then home for xmas! Was thinking about doing my teaching qualification when I get home - Miss McLaren has quite a ring to it I think. Bossing people about it also a bit of speciality of mine so would suit me down to the ground I think.
Anyway I will keep you update.
Bye for now.
