We spent our last 16RM on a below-par lunch on the way to Kuala Lumpur, confident that my bank card would work when we got there. We were dropped off in china town in the capital and headed straight to the ATM. I was already debating if i should have chicken or duck for dinner when i was told i had insufficient funds in my account. It just so happened that it was a bank holiday back home so could possibly not have any money for another 2 days...d'oh!! Just incase it was a faulty bank machine we went to every ATM in the city centre, and just to make things perfect a massive storm started. Completely drenched we pleaded with the only bank that was open for some sort of cash advance but not surprisingly we were refused. As we wandered around aimlessly in Kuala Lumpur in some of the heaviest rain ive ever seen i began plotting some of the most ridiculous plans to get us a place to stay for the night, when suddenly Joanne remembered about some secret emergency savings account she had (somewhere in the cayman islands i think). In her attempts to be careful, Joanne had written all her pin numbers in code, unfortunately her security measures backfired and she didnt remember what the code was. Luckily enough she finally managed to crack it and we were back in the money at last. After getting a room we wandered around china town's market and had some well deserved duck. Kaula Lumpur was nicer than i'd expected and the food was absolutely awesome. We managed to pretty much see everything of interest in our 2 full days in the capital, but the petronas towers were easily the main highlight. They're the 2nd or 3rd tallest building in the world and the largest twin towers and extremely impressive. We went up KL tower (the 4th largest tower in the world) to get the best view of them which was really sweet, although the best thing about the tower was the "corn in a cup" it sold in its cafe - so simple but sooo good. Cant believe its taken so long to think of it. Each night we ate at the night market in china town, and Joanne would go looking at pretty stalls of earings, bags and purses while i "kept an eye on our table" and tucked into even more roast duck. We caught an early bus to Singapore after our few days in Kuala Lumpur and unfortunaltely i wasnt allowed to bring a stash of roast duck across the border. We were looking forward to meeting Hamish and Tek Koon (friends of Joanne's family who stayed in Singapore,) though we were both a tad gutted about leaving Malaysia after our short stay, despite our cash flow problems and the robbery think its been my favourite place we've been so far. If anyone is considering a trip to Kuala Lumpur in the near future by the by, find the food stall in the picture, it is officially the greatest place on earth. Fact.James
