1. Mars, Eirik´s birthday, we strolled of the bus in Quito about 0600 a.m. Blindly following the lonely planet travel-guide we ended up in an ok hostel within walking distance from the centre. Quito is a big town, with loads of things to see and do. So we decided to split up the sights in "new town" and "old town" and use 1 day to explore each part. Early sunday morning we packed our bags and strolled down to the "bus-station" in Montanita, without knowing more about the destination than that we where driving north. A couple of hours later we stepped out at the bus terminal in Manta. Manta is a port down, with about 180 000 inhabitants. First impression is ok, no more or less. We found ourself a good, cheap hostel near the centre and we're probably heading towards Quito tomorrow.

We're still having an awesome time here in Montanita. The last days have been filled with alot of surfing and and good night life. We also finished our open water diver course, and passed the theoretical exam. So we are now alowed to dive on our own down to 18m. Chevere. Hola!We are now in Montañita, a small village on the coast of Ecuador, which is brilliant. Getting here was interesting though. After waking up from the last night out in Cuenca on saturday morning of the 15th, we said goodbye to our families and took the first bus to Guayaquil. After completing 4 weeks in the andean mountains we are now leaving the sierras and heading for the coast of ecuador. We've had 4 magnificent weeks here, were we have learned a lot of spanish, gotten to know a lot of awesome people and we've had the pri viledge of living with Ecuadorian families.
