After completing 4 weeks in the andean mountains we are now leaving the sierras and heading for the coast of ecuador. We've had 4 magnificent weeks here, were we have learned a lot of spanish, gotten to know a lot of awesome people and we've had the pri
viledge of living with Ecuadorian families. When looking back on everything, the thing we'll remember the best is our trip to the national park Cajas, where walked for miles in untouched andean nature and spent a weekend watching birds, lamas, stars and fireflies. Even thoug we dind't see any pumas, bears, condors or tucans..
This last week we went to see the most important arceological sight in Ecuador, Ingapirca. Whats left of the ancient city today is an incredible sight, and we've heard its like "mini - macchu picchu". After seeing the miniature version, with temples, bodegas houses and water-systems we cant wait to see the "real" version. Its probably not that far away! We've also been cheering on the national soccer - team, Deportivo Cuenca, at the stadium. Attending salsa lessions for two days with some of the girls at the school has been a lot of fun.
We are now planning on north on the coast - line after montanita, visting small coastal cities like puerto lopez, and probably visiting "isla de plata", wich is an untouched island on the coast of Ecuador, hosting many of the same spicies as galapagos. During our stay in montanita were taking the scuba-diving license, so if we decide to go to isla de plata, we will be able to dive in one of the best spots on the continent.
Tonight were havin a goodbye party with the folks we've met in Cuenca, in many ways its sad to leave, but we feel ready for a change of venue and new adventures! Montanita, here we come!
