I made my way to Asia and did not get lost at all......... Except at Bangkok airport naturally!
Was looking out for my name on airport transfers and walked past a lady holding 'bhavika dhanak' board TWICE before I had the light bulb moment- aha.......... Luckily everything ran smoothly after that!
Reached the hotel just in time to meet my group (FYI Thailand has NO driving rules- you just close your eyes and pray the driver knows what to do) so back to group- there are 17 of us this time round and the boys are once again outnumbered by the girls- it's a good mix of people from all over the world who have already been on amazing journeys........ Our group leader is a local called chris and is absolutely hilarious ........ His opening speech started with rule number UNO- no drugs or lady boys!!!
It has been a nice leisurrly start to the Asia trip (exactly what was needed after the hectic america trip) Could quite get used to living in Thailand after just a few days...... What's not to love:
It's extremely cheap (get a whole Thai meal for under £3- although the first time they gave me the bill for 150 baht, I did neatly have a mini heart attack)
Gorgeous temples/palaces (so much history in a town so small, the serenity and respect was wow)
Secluded beaches to ourselves - we all had a bungalow cabin ON THE BEACH where we spent the days sunbathing, swimming, getting aroma Thai massages and having cocktails on the beach (very sex and the city) and spent the night at the beach with a lit bonfire, singing songs while chris played the guitar (ESP loved the tuk tuk song), learnt new Thai drinking games (!!),
Public transport (IT'S ALL PINK) tuk Tuks, cabs, buses, river boats,
Experience that defo stands out so far is the sleeper train....... Ever tried going to sleep on a top bunk on a moving train for 12 hours ( it's not fun!!!) but defo an 'experience'........loved the hype over the disco carriage on the train though ( turned out to be a small carriage with neon lights and drinks- it was a great walk though)
Can't believe Thailand is almost over though........ Hello Malaysia!!!!!
