We had our first over night train ride on our own to Koh Samui, and I have to say that it wasn't quite so fun without the group!! Still there was some confusion when we got on to find there were only seats and we'd booked beds!! After realising our mistake (apparently they folded down from the ceiling!!) we got settled in for the night. We'd managed to get a combination ticket so when we got off the train in the morning we caught a bus ,then a boat, followed by a taxi to our hostel - 50m from the beach!! The first afternoon was interesting to say the least!! Whilst wandering round we got called over some English guy on a moped who then gave us a scratch card!! We got the usual speil and after finding out we'd (apparently!) won one of the top prizes and all we had to do was go and listen to a talk about their hotel we decided (stupidly!) to go with it and see what happened!!It turned out to not be as simple as this guy made out (I was sceptical from the start!!) and it was all about buying timeshare (surprise, surprise!), which obviously we couldn't afford and didn't want!!. So we quickly said our good byes and walked away but not before we got our free T-shirt!! Then it was time to hit the Beach!! Beautiful sunshine, clear blue water, white sand and palm trees; what more could you want?!!
Then next few days we spent, well, on the Beach! Where else would we be!!Samui was so relaxing we spent all day on the beach and wandering around the shops and stalls, and then the evenings drinking beer at a bar on the beach!! After four relaxing days it was sadly time to move on and head further south to Phuket (more beaches!) via yet another boat and coach trip!!
