In Kuala Lumpur we stayed at the amazing Reggae Mansion Hostel....maybe the best we've ever stayed in. The dorms had ac, a booth with a curtain, double bed, electrical socket and locker and personal mirrored locker. Great stuff!
Mum did a day trip on the bus to catch the sights of the city and loved it...despite her achy leg!
Gen and I were able to use a gym for 2 days, which helped our flabby bellies.
On one evening we witnessed the incredible pilgrimage of over a million Hindu people for the festival of Thaipusam up to the bath caves (25km walk!). The streets were awash with brightly dressed Hindus, chariots and ladies carrying ornamental dowry baskets. There were huge fireworks at the end. We had only to walk 1 minute from our hostel to see it, so we lucked in there!
On our last evening, we walked through the manic Chinese Markets to Kafe Old China for some Indo-Malay food and then took the underground to the iconic Petronas Towers. Stunning at night!
