Debnams on Tour
Did our first stint of 'Couch-Surfing' at the home of the lovely Wadu family. Mother and father are artists and their house seems to be filled with all sorts of paintings and sculptures. Their home used rainwater and the kitchen was really basic. They let us cook some wonderful maize-based meals with them and made us feel extremely welcome for 2 days. Their youngest daughter, Ann 15, had some interesting stories about her private girls school. She was punished for lending another girl her soap....by digging a hole as deep as she was tall. Bizarre!
Went shopping in Navaisha, and stood out like a sore thumb. Lost count of the number of times I heard the 'Mzungu' (white man) comment. Need to work on these tans!
