It seems the Irish spend a lot of time talking about the weather - a serious topic of deep conversation. And I can understand why, now! We have certainly experienced 4 seasons in a day over the last few days, from a full blowing gale with chilling air to very warm moments and clear blue skies. Looking out the window each morning does not help in choosing clothing for the day, so we just put a wardrobe in the car to cater for all eventualities, just in case!
There has been more history to explore in this area of Ireland, with more sites of megalithic ruins, 12th - 15th century churches and also deserted cottages from the Famine period. But what has been most engaging is the beautiful scenery of majestic cliffs and pristine beaches along the coast blended with rugged mountains and clear streams trickling into huge loughs (lakes). This is a wonderful region for fishing! There are also a lot of sheep!
It has been quite a relaxing few days here with more scenic drives rather than walking, which has been very pleasant.
