Ah, too be sure, Ireland is indeed a beautiful place. And yes it is very green. And yes I have seen many 'little people' - will send photos soon. And no, it hasn't been raining all the time, in fact we have enjoyed mostly sunny, warm days with the occasional brief shower - wonderful touring weather.
We arrived in the Emerald Isle by sea - taking an overnight ferry from Swansea in South Wales to Cork. We now have a hire car and spent our first Irish night in a little known village called Allihies, at the bottom of the Beara Peninsula in South Ireland. This is a very rugged peninsula with low, rocky hills, and narrow winding roads along the coastline. And, did I mention, lots of sheep! Allihies is a tiny town - 1 street, about 20 houses (all painted different colours - red, yellow, blue, green) and 4, yes 4 pubs! The Irish love their drinking houses - very social places and also local musicians play regularly at the pubs - great atmosphere.
We are currently in Killarney with lots of walking through the National Park and around Muckross Lake and Gap of Dunloe. A really beautiful place.
