Day 1 - So we rrived in our hostel yesterday afternoon after a thirteen hour budget flight followed by bus then train. We then walked to the wrong hostel in the rain before getting redirected across Chinatown to the right one, only to find out they didn't have the room we booked. Its all sorted now though.
We realised early on that we packed too much stuff as Katie looks like a tortoise carrying hers, and on reflection the two washbags she packed was a tad excessive.
We went to a Chinese 'Restaurant' on our first evening down an alley in Chinatown, which cost the exquivalent of about a fiver which was awesome. We made sure to avoid the 'Intestine Won Tons' however moreish they sounded.
We then had the obligatory 15 hour sleep to get over the jet lag and are now just about functioning on a normal level.
Day 2 - Got moved to the right room this morning and then didn't waste too much time getting out and about to see the place bearing in mind we will only be here for a few days.
We went to Golden Triangle which is Kuala Lumpurs shopping and business district. It is ridiculously busy and the full of smog, and it seems like the locals either want to look like Michael Jackson or are petrified of swine Flu, that every other person is wearing a face mask. Katie managed to take a photo of ten of the above in about half an hour.
We got out of the hustle and bustle to a spa where some small fish sucked on our feet for a bit. I'm not sure if it did anything beneficial, but it felt funny and Katie didn't stop giggling for about half an hour.
We then went for a guided tour of the rain forest around the KL tower and got told not to waste plastic bags etc by the Eco tour guide. She did a good bit of preaching but was actually really nice, and we got to see a little monkey in the wild. awesome. Thats one ticked off the list!
Went to the top of the KL Tower after that which was a bit pants. Thats all I have to say about that.
We've lucked out and our hostel has the internet and aircon, the later being really important as it is scorching outside and really humid. Haven't seen much of the sun yet but I can wait until Thailand for that.
Heading over to Little India now for a curry and than going for a few beers in one of two authentic Malaysian bars near us; either 'Beatles Bar' or 'Reggae Bar'.... some of it is a bit like being in Benidorm...
Off to the Petronas Towers tomorow and then flying on to South Thailand on Weds.
We're both having a brilliant time and getting to see and do some really different things.
Will try and update this as much as possible though!
