Welcome to Australia Jake and Freddie. So pleased to see them after so long, met them from the airport after their long long journey from London. Jet lag hit them quickly so took it easy at first. We had a great evening with Russ and Ann's friends and a trip out to sea on their boat which started in bright sunshine and finished in a dark rainy storm making it a bit chilli, unfortunately no sight of Whales this time. Also a walk and lunch in Manly watching the surfers and the trendy side of Sydney go by. Russell's friends Greg and John also took us out fishing on Johns boat and this time the weather stayed blue sky perfect, Freddie had a bite but in the end there was no fish for tea! We did see a small shark though! Koalas and sport were at the top of the list for the boys so we borrowed Ann's car and visited a sanctuary to see all sorts of indigenous Australian animals including getting close to some cuddly koalas, a big friendly kangaroo and crazy parrots who kept shouting at us. Then in the evening we went to the Sydney Olympic park to see Rugby League and the South Sydney Rabitoes as they lost to the Dragons in extra time, second League game of my travels and extra time in both, I have a new admiration for rugby League. Went up the Sydney observation tower to see the sea, suburbs and sights of the city, very good and had a good stroll with dinner at Darling Harbour and drinks at the Opera bar with great views of the harbour bridge and the opera house as well. Having worn out the boys in Sydney it's now time to catch our flight to Cairns for our road trip down the east coast to Brisbane.
