Arrived at 2pm and were shown to our amazing lodge couldn't believe it ! Lovely wood lodge built on stilts in woodland large kitchen / diner massive lounge area with beautiful log burning fire and wood ceiling large bedroom and en suite with slipper bath and shower then veranda and our own pool BLISS ! We had two Game drives a day 7am and 4pm morning one we stopped for hot drinks and muffins evening a sundowner wine / beer etc and nibbles then the meals wow ! Breakfast / brunch at 10 am everything you could think of lunch 2.30 dinner 7.30 both with variety of hot meals veg salad and delicious deserts --- clothes getting tighter by the day ! Game drive in large 11 seated ' jeep ' driven by Charlee our Ranger we were driven over rough terrain through the bush saw loads and loads of animals -- close enough to touch but not advisable -- especially the large 'p**** cats ' !!! Besides various game we also saw loads Elephants 7 Lions about 20 Giraffe 4 Rhino 2 Hippo loads Wildebeest loads Zebra loads Monkeys ( quite a lot around our lodge ) then Buffalo that had not been seen for a while since they had heavy rain about two weeks ago so were lucky to see them. Between drives. We relaxed around our pool one time while sat there a monkey came up and had a drink from pool !! After dinner came back and sat around the fire no not cold but it was so cosy and lovely !
Only saw 4 of 'The Big Five ' elephant buffalo lion and rhino. Leopard the ' missing one ' apparently very hard to find one guy said he had done 12 different game drives and still not seen one !
Had wonderful brilliant amazing time but somehow not quite what expected !! The reserve was only 9000 hec and some of the trail was next to the road so not quite as wild as expected . Also they knew exactly how many lions / elephants etc they had apart from that it was brilliant and did see the animals very close up.
