Hey Guys......Well we are finally able to give you some insight into our adventure so far!!
What a first week so far!!! We arrived safely in Bangkok, after a quick diversion to Chang Mai, north Thailand due to heavy thunderstorms (on flight an extra 2half hours we think!) and headed straight to our hostel on the bus! an hours journey cost us 3quid each, not too bad!
Bangkok.....hot, humid and definately crazy!!!!!! Big roads and cars/motorbikes/tuktuks everywhere! Thai's everywhere trying to make a buck or two off travellers too!!!
2 half days is definately enough time to the sights BK on a budget!!! After arriving at our hostel about 7pm, we went straight to bed however jetlag got the better of us and we were wide awake from 3.30am!!! We headed to the shops at6pm to buy some fruit and water!!! roads still mad!! So day 1 we just headed to central bangkok and walked around. there are 3 massive shopping centres, better than UK in terms of style and modern furnishings! We took a stroll through Phung Nui park, very beautiful and quiet compared to the streets! Meals are costing on average 2-3 quid each including a beer which is happy days but we are thinking of cooking in soon!
Day 2 we headed to the main sights of Bangkok.....Grand Palace and its surrounding temples are beautiful!! The architecture and colours are amazing, and a 50ft reclining buddha in Wat Pho was a sight!! Kho San Road is how we imagined! Busy full of backpackers and stalls selling dirt cheap knock offs! We are coming back through BK in a few weeks so we may pick up a bargain or two on way through! All attractions have been dirt cheap to visit and transport too costs next to nothing! (as long as you haggle with tuktuk drivers!) HI Sukhumvit Hostel....fab! Clean, quiet, relaxing, aircon and cheap! On the other side of town to backpacker land but we would never have ventured over that way if we were near Kho San! Sky train a must even just for the air con!
Hope we can put the photos up today to show you!
We flew Bangkok to Hanoi, Vietnam on Friday and are having the best experiences! Will keep you updated very soon! Going to try and upload the photos now!!!
