On arrival back in Lima for the last time, we went back to our previous hotel and settled down with a walk along the promenade and an a decent meal before bed. Next morning we checked out of the hotel and into the poshest hotel we could find for our last night. We had a look around miraflores and ended up in an archaelogical site that gave a decent idea of what life was like in the good old days (when people lived in pyramids and sacfrificed each other!). The afternoon and evening was generally spent in our luxury apartment taking in the last 6 months. Jo had a little tear and got ready to go home... Early next morning, we left for the airport (much of the journey was spent wondering if we would get there as the driver was very suspect and took us a funny way that we didn't recognise). After 6 months of no problems at all, the last flight looked like our downfall. In short, we didn't have a seat on the flight home and may have to wait a day or so. No way, said we! Our negotiation skills were put to one last test and we got ourselves (eventually) on the correct flight and on time, we left Peru. It was all plain sailing from there on in, apart from Jo nearly getting arrested in the airport during our change at Madrid (after arguing with the armed police officer after a desk clerk wouldn't let her take a water bottle on the plane). We touched down in London and that was it, our dream trip had been... a dream trip and had turned out better than we could ever have imagined.
